You will always remember your visit to Jerusalem, the city of beauty and wonder, paradox and charm. As you wonder through Jerusalem you will also wonder through time. During your stay you will walk through the ancient Old City, the center of prayer for all the world's religions.
Jerusalem is also a modern City with cafes, shopping malls and boulevards. You will have time to buy souvenirs as well as stroll through Ben Yehuda Street, Jerusalem's world famous outside shopping promenade. Your visit to Jerusalem will be one of the highlights of your tour. Jerusalem has been described as the city of God, the spiritual center for many of the world's major religions. Historically the Old City has been the heart of Jerusalem. Indeed up until the late 1800's the Jewish Quarter of the Old City housed the entire Jewish population of the City. It was only when a wealthy British Jew named Moses Montiffiori, in the 1870's, built the first areas outside the Old City, that Jerusalem. began to grow.
Today the future of Jerusalem is the key question confronting the peacemakers of the Middle East but all sides agree on its importance and beauty. It is a little wonder that the City has been described as the City of Gold. |
